March Trail Hike

Sorry, this newsletter issue is going out too late to remind people about the March hike, which is Monday, March 3. The April hike is scheduled to take place Monday, April 7. If you are interested in that hike, please email hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org.

Fiber Arts Group

Nancy Newman’s House

The fiber group will be continuing its monthly gatherings on March 9. Everyone that is interested in any form of fiber work (or play) is welcome. If you have questions about the group or are planning to attend, please send an RSVP email to hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org.

Book Group

Tuesday, March 11

The group meets monthly, generally on the second Tuesday. RSVP to Louisa Davis for the address and/or to join the group.

March Happy Hour

Thursday, March 13, 5-7pm
Ministry of Brewing

One nice thing about our calendar and February/March is that when one is updating the date for monthly events, there is no need to change the date—only the month. Anyway, join What’s Next members at Ministry of Brewing for the monthly happy hour. No RSVP is required. Ministry of Brewing has a wide selection of beer, as well as hard cider and nonalcoholic beverages. You are welcome to bring something to nibble on and perhaps even to share.

Lend Us Your Ears!

Saturday, March 15, 7-9pm

Shakespeare's in the house! Join other Shakespeare lovers for an evening of merriment. Share your favorite speech, sonnet, or soliloquy - or just enjoy the performances of others. Bring a beverage to share. There will be nibbles provided

Game Night

Wednesday, March 19, 7-9pm

Calling everyone that enjoys playing board and card games? What’s Next members meet on the third Wednesday of each month at Nancy Newman’s house. Some people bring games they want to play and Nancy has a vast selection. Please RSVP to hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org so Nancy knows how many to expect. BYOB. And if you have a snack that you want to share, bring it with you.

Communications and Membership Committee Meeting

Thursday, March 20, 6pm

The Communications and Membership Committee is responsible for our organizational communications: website, newsletter, and the Facebook page. The committee also carries out our new member procedure and organizes an all-member social event each year. If you are interested in participating on this committee to help with any of those endeavors, please attend our first meeting of 2025 on Thursday, March 20, at 6:00pm. Series of Occasional Revolutionary Readings

Sunday, March 30, 2-3pm

The first reading of this group will be "Radical Chic and Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers" written by Tom Wolfe in 1970. (144 pp). It has been described as an essay about black rage and white guilt. The number of attendees will be limited to make sure everyone has a chance to speak, so please RSVP directly to Barb for location and details. It is expected that attendees will have recently read the book.

UkuLaLas!

Tuesdays and Saturdays, 10-11:30am

The UkuLaLas continue to hold both weekly strums indoors at Maxine’s Gallery at 126 N. Madeira St. from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.

All What’s Next members are welcome. We happily include all musical instruments and singers. Leave us a message at hello@whatsnextbaltimore.org if you have questions or need to borrow a loaner ukulele. And don’t worry if you are new to playing; we have small-group beginner sessions to help you get started.

Dues

Friendly reminder that What’s Next member dues are annual, for each calendar year. If you haven’t paid yet in 2025, please go to our website to renew, or mail/drop off your dues of $10 per person to the treasurer’s house, 12 N Collington.
